EDI Scholarship Information & Application Download

We are proud to offer the Dr. Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute Tuition Scholarship in honor of our founding Executive Director. This scholarship supports dedicated fire service professionals committed to leadership development and professional excellence.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a member of a paid professional fire department
  • Have at least one (1) year of employment in the fire service
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development and community engagement

Scholarship Award Information

Each year, the EDI Leadership Team awards a minimum of two tuition scholarships.

Recipients are selected based on:

  • Clarity of professional goals
  • Leadership potential
  • Commitment to public service
  • Alignment with EDI’s mission

The scholarship covers tuition only.

Recipients are responsible for transportation to and from Dillard University, the current host location of the Institute. Proof of transportation must be submitted to EDI Administration by May 10 of the scholarship year. Failure to provide documentation will result in forfeiture of the award.

REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS

All materials must be submitted together in one electronic packet:

  1. Current professional resume
  2. Two letters of recommendation (submitted with application)
  3. Personal letter of request (1 page maximum)
  4. Two essays (maximum 250 words each):
    • Essay 1: Outline your career goals and leadership aspirations.
    • Essay 2: Describe your plan and commitment to successfully complete EDI’s five-year program.
